More and more online marketers are turning to blogging for profits. A slice of these marketers are into micro-niche blogging. What this means is that they tend to target longer tailed keyword phrases. The capture a smaller portion of the traffic, but this also means that it is easier to rank for these terms (less competition). Micro-niche blogging is made to appear more complicated than it actually is. If everyone says blogging is simple, then why cana€™t micro-niche blogging be?
Domain & hosting
Though we are going to target micro-niches, we still want to look professional and neat. So wea€™ll register a proper .com, .net or .org domain. You can use the cheap one Revbytes.
As for hosting, I recommend Revbytes.com. They both provide the Fantastico script which makes wordpress installation quick and easy.
As a side note, you might want your domain to be the same as your main keyword. Your main keyword is simply the a€Å“broadera€ one and its the one receiving the most monthly searches. Wea€™ll get to these below.
Keyword research
The actual work starts here. You have loads of tools at your disposition a€“ both free and paid. You can pretty much find everything the paid softwares do for you for free, but ita€™s going to take more time for you to do it.
Paid tools you can use are Micro Niche Finder or Market Samurai.
Free tools: Google Keyword Tool, Google Wonder Wheel.
Ideally, you want to harvest long tail keywords (which are 3 a€“ 7 words long) having a minimum of 1000 monthly searches.
When you are done, put your keyphrases between quotes (each) and paste each of them (one at a time) in Google search. You want to keep the keywords which show up less than 50,000 results to start.
It may seem a bit tedious (and it is) and thata€™s where the paid tools help a€“ they do all of these simultaneously.
The work (and monetization!)
Youa€™re free to do it your way, but for the sake of simplicity, wea€™ll use wordpress for this guide. Use fantastico to install it. Next, find a cool theme. By all means, dona€™t go overboard and waste your time with this. Take something which is easy on the eyes (so your readers wona€™t have eyestrains) and use it.
Write 250 word articles and post them everyday for a week. Ita€™s not that hard really. Whata€™s hard is to start writing only. Once you write, it flows. Read few articles about the micro niche topic and you will have enough to write about for 7 days.
Next monetize! You can use a single type of promotion or blend in several types. Personally Ia€™d slap a Google AdSense box below my titles and an affiliate link to a related product at the end of the articles.
This is the initial phase. After this, you can go into traffic generation strategies. But for now, focus on creating it.
